We're going to have to use every chance we get to edit what we have, fitting hours of footage into about three and a half minutes is harder than one would think initially (and we're using speedups too).
But we're getting this done and after-all, is this not what media is all about? the lonely solitary tapping of keys; the endless cutting, editing and pasting into final cut; swinging from tree to mighty tree with camera in hand!
